Bula vinaka and welcome to Year 4's webpage! Let us first introduce our Year 4 teachers for 2015. Ms Buffy Jo Jack and Mrs Sarah Raikabo. Mrs Carol Apted is our learning support case manager for Year 4 and Ms Sereana Senidamanu, our classroom assistant. Mrs Lucy Otway is our ESL teacher.
We have had a fantastic start to the year. Already established is our new classroom behaviour management and responsibility system. This system is in place to encourage accountability for our educational environment and to prepare us for the challenges of Year 5 next year and beyond. Additionally, it is to help us also become PYP learners. We have our diaries to guide us through this process.
This term we have been busy with our swimming program and our first unit of inquiry, 'Adaptation'. Early in the term, we held a family breakfast for all of our parents and siblings to get to know each other in readiness for the new school year. It was a great success and we shared lots of delicious and healthy breakfast foods.
We are now in the beginning stages of our new unit of inquiry, 'Body Systems'. Our central idea is 'Body Systems are interrelated and work together for good health.'
Early next term is our Year 4 camp at Pacific Harbour. At camp, we are going to be doing some exciting activities including beach walks and morning exercise, cooperative games, a visit to the cultural centre (Arts Village) and some fun sports including beach volleyball, soccer and touch rugby. It's going to be loads of fun!
